He always seems to have a harsh glare in his gaze, but that's his unfortunate default face for everything. He’s not very social at all, so you wont catch him hanging out with a large group of people. Sometimes the voice of his mother interferes with his ability to communicate with people as well, so he’d rather avoid talking in general. It's really his outside demeanor that scares / pisses people off but in reality he doesn't mean to be a jerk. He’s not intentionally trying to be a bad person – he’s just socially awkward and automatically tries to push people away. I think if someone wanted to befriend him, they would have to either be incredibly patient and nonjudgmental or be relentless and somehow force themselves into his friend zone because he rarely lets people become that close at all. But for the people who do find a way to gain his trust, they’ll have a friend for life. Passed his mental issues and harsh exterior, he has a good heart. Actually, I wont, because the list can go on forever. It's very easy to get on Nicolas’s nerves. Sometimes you don't even have to try. He’s a germaphobe, so if you’re sloppy or disorganized or you don’t believe hygiene is that important, you’re going to be checking off more than just his petpeeves. He’s vindictive, antisocial, holds a boatload of grudges and anger and once he gets mad it's hard for him to change his mood for the rest of the day, so it’s completely understandable why his attitude would cause him to get on peoples' bad side. Not only that but his family structure undergoes much scrutiny which he personally doesn’t have a problem with, as he disagrees with his father’s marital beliefs as well. He also comes from a family that’s considered to be very wealthy (which explains why he dresses so well and how his whole family is able to live comfortably under the same roof) so for people who don’t know Nick well or don't know why he’s there, he can easily be mistaken to be a rich little brat who’s probably stuck in St. Helena’s for a mild addiction or something. Really, at first glance, you’d expect him to hang out with the Royalty or Court, even though those are the type of people Nick hates the most. He's the guy who will insist that love is an illusion or an unbalance of chemicals in the brain. Being compatible with people he can understand, and his over protection for his friends and family members that he cares for clearly shows that he's capable to feel love, even though he doesn't like admitting it. Being attracted to people is a whole other thing for Nick. Secretly, he believes the reason why it’s difficult for him is because he's been surrounded by a surplus of girls all his life (those being his mothers and sisters) that it just feels weird when someone from the opposite sex flirts with him. It's just... no. Ew. It literally it makes him feel like ew. He reverts back to a five year old, that's how severely awkward it is for him, and whenever he actually does like someone he gets all different kinds of mind-screwed, becoming incredibly flustered around them to the point of speaking in word salad. Other people would agree that him being surrounded by women all his life did have an effect on him, but quite differently than what Nick believes (hint: IT ENVOLVES QUESTIONING HIS SEXUALITY) which, by the way, also gets on Nick's nerves a lot. He doesn't have a problem with gay people, per se. He's just been burden with being asked "Are you gay?" so many time that it's just, ugh, it gets annoying, okay? Huh? What’s that? You think just because he’s painfully inept in this category that love plots are closed? Not only that, but that you think this would give me less motivation to put him in awkward situations because you assume I’m a good mother to my characters? Oh, I guess we haven’t met before. Hi! Yay for the schizophrenics!!(: So i have August here, who's a junior at St. Helena's! She's a loner as well, completely shut off from the world. Besides the fact that she too is socially awkward, she is very patient. The fact that he is also a schizophrenic would make her become understanding of him. I could see her wanting to be there for him, even when he's cross. Maybe eventually they could become friends? but for awhile, she's just there for him? Their friendship could be a secret if he didn't want anyone knowing, it's all what he wants in August's mind! What do you think? Add/Subtract/Delete?

First let me say that I LOVE August (she’s so cute and pretty and sjhldfajkdkf ;w;) and a friendship between her and Nick would be wonderful!

Though Nick is kind of new at St. Helena’s I’d like to think that he’s seen August before, so by now he should be over his oh-wow-she’s-really-pretty-I-should-try-to-avoid-her faze, especially because she’s very soft spoken and he doesn’t have any reason to not like her. I think at first he would still be a little reluctant to talk with her but eventually grow comfortable around her and enjoy her company, and since the reason why August would want to be there for him because of his schizophrenia, he’ll in turn kind of want to be there for her too (because scizo-comfort-buddies are the best kinds of comfort-buddies =u=). Still, the time it takes for them to turn from acquaintances to close friends would have to be a gradual one, because although he’d really appreciate her company and patients, it’ll take him a while to trust her.

The good news (if you wanna call it that) is that if/when they do become close friends, he’s going to become fiercely protective of her. It’s kind of like a side-effect of getting into his “people I actually care about” zone. Whenever he becomes close with someone he’ll risk his life to protect said person, and once he learns how easy August lets people take advantage of her or how people can easily bully her, then oh man. She’ll basically have her own body guard, or at least she will whenever he’s around and sees possible danger.

Also, he wouldn’t have a problem letting people know that they’re friends. He has trouble admitting that he cares about people, sure, but he’s not secretive about his relationships. c:

She sort of needs that in her life really, due to the fact that no one else will be protective of her. (: Of course, waiting to get to that point is definitely alright with August! She'll always be there for him when he needs her and if he needs space, she will gladly give it to him! Would you like to thread these lovelies? The fact that they have Schizophrenia will definitely give them both a deep understanding to each other and i can't wait for August to have that! Holy crap you don't even know how much I approve of this plot idea. I just love the idea that their resentment towards one another are based on a bunch of misunderstandings, but if/when they confront each other about them then they'll have a better understanding of each other and gain an ally instead of an enemy.

I think the first couple of interactions between the two will be of them having an obvious problem with each other and what really initiates their argument will be after Nick does something big, like get in a fight with another student or something. But I'm just spitballing here, lol. The point is, I'm all for this plot \ o /
