It was always too quiet early in the morning at St. Helena's Academy, leaving too much time to think for the barefoot, restless young girl wandering the empty halls. A chill in the air left goosebumps on her exposed skin, causing her to rub her upper arms as she peeked into room after room for something to do. She didn't have a jacket to walk outside, the cafeteria wouldn't be open for another three hours (not that food sounded even remotely appetizing), it had been weeks since she had turned on a television, therefore the red head had no idea what was playing.
Hallway after hallway turned up nothing but empty classrooms and locked doors for Avalon. Becoming slightly annoyed, she reached out to the handle of a frosted glass door and turned, revealing the music classroom. Her breath hitched as she laid eyes on an upright piano. "Not exactly my preferred Baldwin, you'll do." She whispered, her footsteps making small padding noises as she made her way from the door to the wooden piano.
Though her shorts covered most of her bottom, it did nothing to protect her bare legs from the cold leather seat as Avalon perched herself, giving off a small, uncomfortable groan. She ran her fingers across the well worn ivory and ebony keys, smiling as her pinky pressed down on a key and the sound was perfectly in tune. "Looks like someone knows what they're doing," Avalon placed her hands in proper position, straightening her back as she practiced her scales several times, getting herself comfortable with the pressure needed for the piano.
After a few minutes, Avalon started to play little melodies, letting her body relax as the memories came flooding back. Without skipping a beat, Avalon began to play the intro to Addicted by Kelly Clarkson, quietly humming the words to herself. She knew anyone could be awake and didn't trust anyone not to listen to her as she sang.
