[/color][/style][/style][/style] "Ugh, yes, Ric, I've got your coffee," Evangeline said into a phone with a shake of her head and a fond smile. "You owe me, mister." She balanced two things of coffee in a tray, her phone pressed to her ear by her shoulder, and opened the door to the school with her foot. The drama teacher then carefully carried the tray with one hand in order to hang up the phone and shove it in her coat pocket. Her heels clicked on the floor as she walked, and she made her way through the administration wing in the academic building to drop off some coffee at Alaric's office since he had forgotten to grab some on his way in. Something about distractions, which that was all Angel had heard to decide she did not want to know the rest because it had the potential to be too much information. Once she had dropped the coffee off, interrupting Alaric hurriedly finishing the grading he hadn't finished the night before (once again, potentially too much information as to why) for a few moments, she left him be and went to her own office to drop the drink tray into the trash and drape her leather coat over the chair behind her desk. She had her own grading to do, but she did not like doing that in her office. It was too dark and cramped. So, Evangeline gathered everything she needed and took the stuff to the teachers' lounge. It was a lot brighter in there with big windows. She liked it better. She would have asked Ric to join her, but then she knew he'd never get his grading done because they'd end up flicking paper wads at each other or something of the like. It had happened before. Angel sat down on one of the rolling, squishy chairs at the table in the room, taking a sip out of her coffee. She hated that as a drama teacher she actually had to give out assignments to be graded. It was ridiculous, but required by the state. So, she had them randomly do essays on different plays, or little worksheets on vocabulary involved in drama. She graded with a hot pink gel pen, and it was very rare that she ever took off points on someone's assignments as long as they tried. Most of her grading was based on attendance and participation in classroom activities. Those she would add to the grade book based on notes she made in the little notepad she brought to the auditorium every day for class so that she was not carrying around a grade book all the time. The notebook always had an attached paper that had all her students' names so that she could call attendance. "Love bites, but so do I..." she sang softly to herself, breaking off to hum softly as she turned over the essay she was reading over, absently tapping her pen on the table while bouncing one of her knees. She'd already had two cups of coffee, and that was quite obvious. Eva would need it to get through the day, though, seeing as she had not gotten much sleep the night before. She had been up, searching for the right play for the students to do still. It was ridiculous how difficult it was for a decision to be made. She did not like it. Maybe she would ask Benton and Alaric for opinions since it would be a musical. They would be good opinions to ask. She was wanting to find something a little more alternative with more of a rock edge, because she thought something like that was more likely to be something the students could find something in it to relate to than one of the classics or something with the silly pop hits that held no meaning. It was impossible to find something that fit what she was wanting to do and be okay by the school guidelines at the same time, however. Still, in a school full of misfits, what better way to try to catch some of their attention than by the misfit music? Angel was not sure how long she had sat there when she heard the door open, and figuring it was Alaric to bug her about coffee, she said, "Sorry, Ric, one cup's your cutoff." Of course, when she looked up, the young woman saw that it was not the friend she had made on campus, but another one of the staff members, which made her laugh softly with a slight grin. "Oops, sorry. Thought you were someone else. Hi."

i am the doctor i want to be the filler of the void that's solely yours. i wanna be your glass of single malt whiskey hidden in the bottom drawer. i want to be the glue that holds your pieces together. i want to be responsible for your fractured heart and its wounded beat. OUTFIT: clicky | TAGGED: evangeline | WORDS: 632 Friday the thirteenth, the day in which everyone was supposed to have bad luck. Draven hated days like this, he really did. After all, Draven figured he'd had enough bad luck to last a lifetime. As it was, he was still at work promptly at three ante meridiem. He was a bit tired by this point, but it was only an hour longer until he could have a break, maybe a quick power nap while Salizar was in the infirmary before Salizar had class. A glance at the clock had him slowly rising from the chair behind his desk and walking out of the office. His office was a small alcove, meant originally to be another storage room for medical supplies should it be needed, and had just transformed into his office since he practically lived there anyway. There was even a small cot behind his desk where he would take his rest in the evenings and even a smaller corner cordoned off to be a makeshift closet where he could keep a change of clean clothes in case he was there all night long.
As it was, the tie he'd originally been wearing was no longer around his neck, but folded neatly on the top of his desk back in the office and he found himself wishing he could just go home and go to bed. As it was, he was needed here. He stretched slightly as he walked, moving out of the infirmary and down the hall towards the administration building. He needed a cup of coffee, and he knew there was a pot in the staff room that he could set up to make some coffee. He was sure that some of the other staff members would appreciate it as now was usually when they started coming in as well. His boots hitting the marble-tiled floor was the only sound that he heard on his way towards the staff room. He passed a door, the office of Alaric Jester, which had a light on beneath it. He paused briefly at the door and raised a hand to knock.
It wasn't uncommon for him to see Alaric here in the early mornings, though he wasn't sure why. He opened the door to the other's office and offered a smile. "Good morning, see you're here early again. Just on my way to the staff room to make a pot of coffee, can I interest you in a cup?" he asked, smiling as the other male indicated that someone had brought him some earlier but that he wouldn't turn down a second cup. He nodded easily and vowed to return before moving out and towards the staff room. Again, there was already a light on beneath the door, but this time, he didn't bother knocking as he headed into the room and spotted a teacher there grading some of her papers.
He offered her a smile as she instantly started talking to him as if he were Alaric. He chuckled when she realized her mistake. "No, not at all. Evangeline, yes? I know that Alaric is usually here early, so your assumption that I was he is quite logical." He moved towards her at this point, offering his hand. "I don't think we've formally been introduced. I am Dr. Hawke... or you can call me Draven. I just thought I'd come in here and make a pot of coffee... I've been here since three and thought that if I made it now, then I wouldn't be the only one drinking it." Which was good, he counted on his power naps in the mornings, but if he'd had to much coffee, then he tended not to want to go to sleep, no matter how tired he really was.

[/color][/style][/style][/style] She was slightly embarrassed and red in the face from her error of having assumed the person that came into the room was Alaric. A part of her had thought that they were the only two people there, but then, that was silly. There were always a bunch of staff members on campus. It did not matter what time of day it was, someone was there for one reason or another. It had been a little surprising the first time Angel had showed up really early with Alaric; but, she was still getting used to the fact that though her students seemed to be every bit of a normal bunch of kids, St. Helena's was not a normal school by any means. The students really did have issues and having a staff member on Eva had never really met the other staff member, Draven. She knew her co-workers in passing, but beyond Ric, she had not spent any decent time with many of them. It was not that she was anti-social; she just preferred to keep her personal and work lives separate. However, she was starting to realize she probably should be more social with the people she spent more time with than anything. "Draven, right," Evangeline replied with a nod as she took his hand, laughing with a smile. "You can call me Angel." She did not often go by her full name, finding it to be much too long. More often she went by Angel or Eva, though she had no preference for which one. Her brow rose a little when she heard that the other man had been there since three. Was he one of the people that struggled with sleep as well? "Do they have you scheduled here that early or is this just a habit?" She was always very curious as to what drove different members of the staff to be at the school at odd hours. It made more sense if they were one of the overnight staff scheduled to be there all night, just in case; but, then you had the ones like Alaric that randomly showed up at three in the morning just because. Eva honestly did not see much of Dr. Hawke around the school, so it was highly likely he was one of the staff members that were there more toward the evening and early morning hours. If so, she felt kind of sorry for the man. It had to be difficult to keep any sort of a life beyond work if you had to sleep during the day. "I definitely wouldn't say no to more coffee, though," Angel stated as she set her pen down, brushing her hair back out of her face, tucking it behind an ear. "Gotta keep up with Mr. Bundle of Energy down the hall." A soft laugh sounded in her voice as she shook her head fondly with a smile. Honestly, she had no idea how her friend managed to be one of the most energy-filled people she had ever met with his struggle with insomnia. It was a bit of a mystery, but it made spending time with Ric amusing. He made for a great friend to have around, even if he was a bit weird. Weird people were often the best, in Angel's opinion. OUTFIT: clicky | TAGGED: evangeline | WORDS: 581 Draven offered a small smile to the female. He could tell she was just a little embarassed about having mistaken him for Alaric Jester, but it was something that happened all the time. He moved into the room and towards the little counter which had a small microwave on it as well as a coffee-maker. He reached into the cabinet above the counter and pulled down the necessitites for making coffee. Placing the filter into the top, he scooped the coffee grounds into said filter. He turned to look at her over his shoulder as she spoke again and smiled at her laugh. It was exceptionally pleasant. "Ah, but why should I call you Angel? Makes me think of a brooding soulful vampire private detective or of glittering halos, harps, white robes, and wings.... neither of which fits you..." he stated easily as he turned towards her.
"But Evangeline? Ah... perfection, my dead. It conveys beauty, mystery, strength, and intelligence..." he stated, nodding slightly as he moved to fill up the glass pot with water to fill up the machine. He turned on the water before heading back towards the pot. When she asked if he was just there by habit, he smiled faintly. "Well, technically, they have me scheduled for this time, but mostly because I asked for it. I've been here since 3:00 AM... there needs to be a doctor on call who canget her quickly, after all, in case something happens with one of the students. This way, if someone gets hurt, even if they need more medical attention than I can grant, they can at least be stabilized until an ambulance can get to them." He filled up the coffee maker before replacing the pot and flipped it on.
He turned back towards her at this point, brushing a strand of hair from his face. "Of course, it seems like I'm always here. Any time that Salizar or Richard cannot be in the infirmary is when I'm there. I even have a cot in my office so that I can take power naps and such. I technically get off around 8 in the morning, whenever Salizar comes in, but then he has a class... so I take over for him while he's in class and what not. Though more often than not, I'm finding recently, Salizar has started to come in earlier and earlier. I wonder if its because of a certain absence in his bed..." he stated with a laugh. "He gets frustrated, apparently, when he wakes up and Alaric isn't there." He shrugged as he leaned against the counter before moving forward to sit at the table with her.
"Well... you're most welcome to some when its done brewing." He leaned forward on the table and he laughed when she stated that she had to keep up with Mr. Bundle of Energy down the hall. "I think he's like that because he has to keep up with Miss Bundle of Energy in the Chem Lab," he stated with a hint of amusement. He'd briefly met Abigail Perretta, she had been doing some blood work with Salizar, and she had been quite excitable. Salizar had later told him that Nykki, as he had called her, was Alaric's best friend. They seemed to fit together somehow... he was surprised, in fact, that Alaric had ended up with Salizar and Benton and not with Miss Perretta.
