General Description: Peter always possessed a boyish look about him. In ten years he probably will as well. His emotions can be seen in his big brown eyes, especially sadness. People constantly ask him why he looks like a wounded puppy and he will respond with a shrug. Despite being picked on throughout his life, his height gave him an advantage when taking on those bullies with Napoleon complexes. His boy type is pretty average for the most part: not gangly but not quite muscular either. Overall, he is a good looking fellow who doesn’t even notice.[/blockquote]

General Description:
There is an on-going debate in history and psychology on whether someone is the person they are because of nature or nuture. Peter’s emotional problems are mostly a product of his environment. He is unable to trust most people because of the baggage of his Dad leaving and his mother “abandoning” him for Hank. This situation made him unapproachable to most of his peers. However, he has a good heart. If he is actually friends with someone he is the type of person who would do anything for them. Getting to that level of friendship, however, is difficult with him. He feels nervous starting conversation and he is constantly insecure, partly because of his step-father constantly pointing out flaws. The lack of trust also leads to judging people easily. If a girl is blonde and tan he might automatically assume she is a bitch. The truth is he is afraid of getting hurt. He’s been attracted to both men and women in his life, but he is mostly confused on the topic which makes him feel worse about himself. When you get to know him and find his true self he is a genuinely good person.

History:Peter was born into a broken household from the start. His father, Jonathan, left his mother for another woman when he was barely five years old. He was born in Northern California, but short after the divorce they moved on to Utah to stay with Rose’s sister. The area they lived was filled with many polygamous families. Despite that, he still didn’t find anyone he connected with growing up. Peter always slightly envied those people who had best friends. That was exactly what he wanted, someone to depend on that would always be there for him.
When he was thirteen his mother started seeing a man named Hank Gorman. Peter can still remember the day when he met him… and his other wife. From the beginning they never got along. Hank would make comments about how he didn’t play sports, therefore he didn’t act like a man. Peter didn’t care for him either. He was a large arrogant man who considered himself righteous despite his polygamy. He can still remember the way his stomach flipped and flopped after his mother told him they were going to join Hank’s family. Hank and Margaret had two kids from their marriage: Tucker and Lily. Tucker, 15 at the time, was everything his father wanted him to be: athletic, popular and just as arrogant as Hank was. Lily was the only blessing. She was a sweet little girl who just turned eight when Peter met her. There was something so kind about her that made the situation much more bearable. He liked having a younger sister.
The relationship between Peter and Hank didn’t improve over time, it only worsened. Hank criticized every detail of his life. He didn’t like the music he listened to. He didn’t like the clothes he wore. He didn’t like anything he did. The verbal abuse grew over time and eventually it got physical. Hank would storm into Peter’s room when he was playing David Bowie and smash his CD player. Then he would smash him into the wall. He also constantly warned Peter to stay away from his daughter even though they were siblings now. On his fourteenth birthday things became much worse. It had been one of the few great days of his life. His mom made a cake for him and he was actually starting to talk to more people at school despite Tucker’s bullying. There was also Gavin. He was one of the few people he liked when they originally moved to Utah. Gavin was sort of a loner himself simply because he was very different from everyone around him. He wore eyeliner, neon clothes and spoke in a higher voice than most boys. It was that day that Peter realized they were quite possibly more than friends. Gavin came over to say happy birthday and gave Peter his present. On the porch they hugged rather intimately. It was then that Peter felt the urge to kiss him, but he resisted. When he went to bed for the night he was quickly awoken by Hank. He accused him of being some sort of “fag” and told him he did not tolerate that sort of behavior. That was when he first brought out the belt. It would become almost a daily presence in Peter’s life.
The week before he was sent to St. Helena’s was the climax of the abuse he endured. Hank continued to accuse him of various things and went after him. One morning he was getting on his case about not taking care of more things around the house. He called him useless and pathetic. Peter’s scars from last night stilled burned on his back. Suddenly he was filled with a rage he never let out before. He took his cereal bowl and smashed it at the wall. Hank was furious in return and pulled him up and started shaking him asking what the hell he thought he was doing. Peter grabbed a pan off the stove and hit his tormentor over the head. It wasn’t a heavy blow and Peter was not the type of person to release his anger in that way all the time. Nevertheless the next week he was informed that he was going to be sent off to get himself straightened out. He knew that it was really to get him out of the way.
