It was then, as he was going over one particular file of a boy he'd seen not long ago. He looked up at the clock. It wasn't all that late. he picked up th efile, stuffing some of the papers into the folder and getting up to his feet and he moved into the living area of the apartment and paused, offering a very slight smile to the sight of his boyfriend, Ben, passed out on the couch. He lay the file down on the table and reached up, gently removing the guitar from the other's grasp and the pad of paper resting on his leg before he shifted the other male slowly, so as not to wake him and gently lifted him up.
He carried him up the stairs to the room that they shared and gently placed him onto the bed, removing his shoes and scribbling a short note, placing it on the pillow beside of the other male as he covered him up with a blanket. The note would explain that he'd run over to Ric's to discuss one of the other counselor's students. He then moved back downstairs and grabbed up the file and moved outside, locking the door behind him, placing the key into his pocket and moved towards where Ric's apartment was. He raised his hand, knocking with confidance and then stepping back and waiting for the door to open. The lights were still on inside, so he at least knew that the other male was still awake, unless he'd fallen asleep on the couch like Ben had. He smirked slightly at the thought, it would just be his luck.
Though fortunately, the door did actually open and revealed his other boyfriend. He smiled warmly and stepped forward. "I hope you don't think me rude for just dropping by without calling..." he stated. Come to think of it, he probably should have called. He gave a mental wince at that, when had he become so inconsiderate? He was gaining bad habits from Ben, he needed to watch that. He stepped up towards the other and leaned in, a small kiss pressed to the other's cheek gently. "I'm not here for a booty call, really, I promise, I have a legitimate reason for coming over here," he stated with a bit of amusement, holding up a file as if showing proof that he wasn't there for purely physical reasons. Even though he had to admit that whenever he was around Ric, or Ben for that matter, his body seemed to have a mind of its own.
"So... yeah, I know its unprofessional to want to talk work outside of school, but do you have a minute? It concerns one of your students," he added, watching the other male. "If not, that's totally and completely fine, we can talk about it tomorrow at school." Though he wouldn't mind some one-on-one time with Ric anyway, time that wasn't rushed making out in corners of the library or in Ric's office. Of course, he really hadn't come there for anything like that, it surprised him how quickly this relationship was evolving. Though he knew that Ben and Ric had been alone together in Ric's apartment before without him. He still remembered coming home that night to a mostly-dark apartment. At first, Salizar had assumed Ben had just been exhausted and went to bed early. Until he'd gotten the note. He'd been tempted, so very tempted, to go over to Ric's at that very moment and demand to know why they were having a 'date night' without him.
But he hadn't. He didn't even mention to Ben later on about having any kind of feeling of hurt or jealousy. Why should he? Ben and Ric were perfect together. Salizar pulled himself from his thoughts as he finally fully entered Ric's apartment and looked towards him with a smile. "I'm sorry... I think all my manners seemed to have evaporated today... how are you? I didn't see you at school today, or I'm sure I would have just talked to you about this there... busy day?" he asked conversationally, turning his attention to look around the small apartment. It wasn't bad. Fitting for a bachelor on his own, he now understood what Ben had meant when he said that Ric had made a living out of being a bachelor. This was definitely a bachelor pad if ever he saw one. It could do with... a little order. It looked... just a bit chaotic, much like the apartment he shared with Ben did if Salizar didn't go around and tidy up for a week or so. Ben had probably thought this place was a paradise when he'd been over. Just one more strike.

"I did not just say that." The teacher then went on to continue looking for the piece of sheet music he wanted to work on as Hercules played on the television. It took a few moments of searching before he paused and pinched the bridge of his nose. "Ric, you're not at work, why are you correcting yourself? And talking to yourself?" Yes, it had definitely been a long day at work. Ric was glad to be home, in clothes that were much more comfortable. Well, the tops were anyway, just a tank and one of his hoodies. The jeans were the same ones he'd worn all day, but oddly enough, he never found the skinny jeans uncomfortable. "Tux, if you ate my music again..." He sighed and shook his head, scratching the top of the cat's head as he passed him. "It couldn't have just walk away." Alaric really hated when he misplaced his sheet music, especially for incomplete songs. Part of the time it was out of panic that the wrong person might stumble across them or that someone might take them, and the rest of it was just because he wanted to work on it and he could not if he could not find the paper. "Ha!" he exclaimed with a smile before straightening up, pulling the piece of paper out from under the couch. He was just about to start accusing Tux of hiding things from him when another voice in the apartment caught his attention, startling him a little, mostly because he had been sure he had locked the door. "I hope you don't think me rude for just dropping by without calling..." A smile spread across the teacher's face almost instantly when he looked at Salizar, surprised but not upset in the slightest at the man being there. "No, of course not," he insisted with a shake of his head.
Alaric laughed softly as Salizar said that he actually had a reason for being there, something about one of his students. Ric did not really care what reasoning Zar had for stopping by, he was just glad that the other man did. "I'm good, great now, actually, but yeah, it was pretty busy," he agreed, going over to his boyfriend to chastely kiss him before taking Salizar's hand to lead him over to the couch so that they could sit. "I don't mind talking about one of the students if you want to, but if it can wait, we can go that route, too." Alaric was glad for some time alone with Salizar, able to spend a bit more personal time with him. Even just talking about one of the students was nice. Ric brought his work home with him anyway, so if Zar had something to share, he was definitely willing to listen. "Who did you want to discuss?" Alaric sat next to Salizar on the couch, folding his legs up so that they were tight to his chest, feet resting on the cushion with his chin on his knees. Often times, he and his friends wondered just how he manged to sit like that, even with one leg laying flat as he did sometimes, without it being uncomfortable. He was just a weird one, he guessed; not that there was anything wrong with being weird. They all had their little quirks, and it was usually those things that Ric liked most in people.

Looked like a bunch of little dots and stuff to him, but apparently it made sense to the both of them. He couldn't have told you an eighth note from a sixteenth note, but he knew that if either male were asked, they'd know. Yet another thing that set him apart in their trio, he wasn't exactly a music buff. He was the one who had gone to school for eight years for a Ph. D, and while he knew more about the human body than either of them, who was he going to be talking about it with? They shared no more of his medical knowledge than he did with their musical knowledge. An outsider looking in on them. He kept the small smile on his features, trying not to reveal how sure he was that sooner or later... he'd end up on the outs.
"Well, good. I'm glad," he stated truthfully, he'd rather not have to be sent away, really. That would be a bit embarassing. His smile broadened as the other stated that he was great now, as if implying that his very presence had booted his mood from good to great. He'd take that little pet on his ego, even if it hadn't been what the other had meant. He returned the kiss before allowing the other male to lead him over towards the couch as he stated that he could talk about a student or they could wait, whichever he wanted. He opened up the folder as he sat down before he noticed the noise in the background that he hadn't exactly paid much attention to previously, he looked over towards the television to see if his ears were just playing tricks on him, but he still let out a soft laugh as he realized that he had heard Hercules on the television.
"I can't believe you're watching a Disney movie," he stated absently, taken into the first few lines of the song playing and smiled a bit. "I have often dreamed of a far-off place where a great warm welcome will be waiting for me... where the crowds will cheer when they see my face... and a voice keeps saying this is where I'm meant to be..." he sang quietly along with the television before realizing that it wasn't exactly like he was alone. He winced, looking down as he felt his face heat up slightly in the awkwardness. "Ah. Sorry. Didn't mean to do that," he stated as he shifted on his seat. "Kind of a hard habit to break, I guess," he stated in a rather lame way before he flipped open the folder that he was holding.
"Right, um. The student I wanted to discuss was..." he looked up at the other, attempting to go back to business to cover up his embarassment. "Yony Katana... he's only been at the school for... a little over a week, and already he's been in my office twice... the second time, I had to completely bandage up his arms. I'm not sure where he got the knife but..." he winced slightly, shaking his head slightly. "I don't know if you've seen him since then, but it was pretty bad. Some of the wounds were exceptionally deep, one or two went all the way to the bone," he added, looking over the file before shifting a little closer to Ric so that he could see the documentation of it as well, including photographs that Salizar had taken of the injuries. He was nothing if not thorough.
"The boy didn't even seem to notice them, the fit that he was pitching was mostly because he was brought to me by another teacher and was being physically restrained. There was blood all over the both of them. The teacher had told me that he'd found the boy like that in the courtyard... apparently terrorizing another student, whose name... I can't exactly remember at the moment. The knife was never found." He was just glad that the other student hadn't been brought to him with defensive wounds. Yony was... a bit off-kilter, and he wouldnt't put it past the youth to harm another student. After all, he had been a suspect when they'd found the bodies of his mother and sister in the basement, only the record against his father had him in prison instead of Yony.
He looked back up at Ric at this point. "Normally, I wouldn't much bother of speaking with their counselor after them only having been at the school for a week, but twice in that time, especially with injuries as significant as this, is... a bit out of the ordinary. The first time, he was brought to me by another teacher, and the wounds didn't seem self-inflicted... like maybe he'd been in a fight with someone else perhaps... or had tried to intentionally anger someone into hurting him because he couldn't do it himself? I'm just... not entirely sure what to do with him." He looked at the other, hoping that Alaric would have some kind of answer or theory that would help him to better understand the small asian boy. Yony seemed... cool, collected... and exceptionally intelligent when he wasn't being restrained and pitching a fit. He himself had been forced to treat the teacher who had been attempting to restrain Yony for a busted lip and a bloody nose.

It really was because the other man was there that Ric's mood lifted. He really liked having Salizar around. The choir teacher laughed softly as the other man seemed surprised that Alaric had a Disney movie playing on the table. "You're really that surprised? I love Disney. This one's my favorite." Hercules had always been his favorite Disney movie. He was not fully sure why, but it was. He knew the songs by heart, and could quote almost every single line at the drop of a hat. His gray eyes focused on the screen for a few moments before he heard Salizar singing along. A soft smirk tugged at Alaric's lips as he sat there silently, just listening to his boyfriend sing along with the television. The teacher absently leaned against Zar a little more, resting his chin on the other man's shoulder with a smile before laughing softly as the doctor apologized. "Mmm... nothing to apologize for, babe," he replied, leaning up enough to kiss Salizar, lingering for a moment. "S'cute. 'M just surprised that you know the words." He laughed softly as he settled back into place, resting his chin on Zar's shoulder again with a smile. He was glad to know about the little habit of the man's. It was insanely cute in Alaric's opinion, although highly surprising. He had never pictured Salizar as the type of guy to watch Disney movies, though he, himself, absolutely loved them. They brought out the kid in everyone, and had great messages. Each one of them had something that everyone could relate to; at least, that was something that Ric had found.
"Yony Katana." Alaric's brow furrowed as he looked over the file as Salizar showed him. Honestly, Ric had no idea what he thought about the information he had seen about the teen so far. It was a tough case, that was for sure, one that was a bit out of his comfort zone if he was totally honest. He did not feel it was something he just could not handle, though. It would just be difficult. It would take patience and, well, beyond that Ric was not sure. He listened silently as Salizar told him about Yony's trips to the medical wing. None of that sounded too good at all. "I'm just... not entirely sure what to do with him." Well, that made two of them. Alaric laughed a little as he shook his head slightly, looking up at Salizar as he sat up fully again, though he stayed close to the other man. "Honestly, I've no idea, either. I mean..." What did you do with things like that? Alaric was not the type to suggest medication unless it was absolutely needed, but from what he read and what Salizar said, the teen sounded like someone who would outright refuse, or he would use the medications in a way they were not supposed to be. Neither option was a good one. "Pretty sure I'm just completely clueless with this one. I mean... what am I supposed to do? Remind him that sharp things are bad? It doesn't sound like a case of self loathing, so I can't really do typical self harm therapy techniques." Ric could list those off the top of his head, having used pretty much every one discovered. He still reverted to some of them at time to time when his stress levels rose and that itch came back. As much as he would like to think that he had completely rid himself of his old ways, the man knew that relapse was always a possibility, no matter how old he got or how many years between. The trick was in finding ways to keep that from happening, and he tried really hard in doing so. Whether they knew it or not, Salizar and Ben were actually great helps to him.

"I suppose I'm not all that surprised, I just wasn't expecting it, I guess," he stated easily, offering a small smile. He was glad though, that Ric wasn't put off by the fact that he himself knew Disney lyrics. After all, he didn't exactly seem like the type to watch Disney. He smiled as the other leaned in to kiss him and he turned his head to return it easily, smiling at the other male as he rested his chin on Salizar's shoulder. "Yeah well... Ben likes to watch Disney too, I think I know all of the songs to all of the older Disney movies... of course, I'll admit, I can sometimes be caught watching them with him," he confessed, chuckling softly and looking back towards the television absently.
He wasn't entirely sure why he seemed to remember nearly every single song in every single Disney movie, but perhaps it was just because he was weird like that. He did like the movies though, but perhaps it was the need he had to always appear collected and controlled, and Disney movies tended to let people know that there was someplace inside of you that wasn't always collected and controlled. But he supposed that with Ric, that didn't really matter all that much. He looked back at the other as the name he'd mentioned sunk into the other's mind. He could practically see the wheels in the other male's head turning as he thought over all the problems that Yony was having. The boy was an odd one, that was a definite fact. He didn't even seem to think that there was anything wrong with self-mutilation. At least most other students understood why it was wrong.
He offered a small smile as the other stated that he didn't know what to do with him either. He gave a faint nod. "Have you seen the full extent of his file?" Sometimes, full files weren't released to the counselors simply because it might make them biased against the student. "Katana... it appears that his father was the main reason behind the way he is. I'm surprised we don't have Katana's brother, to be completely honest. But his father killed Yony's mother and his sister and according to the medical records that I have for him, there were over a hundred documented scars and wounds on the boy when he was brought in after his father was arrested. Something tells me that his father took great pleasure in torturing his family, and Yony seemed to get the brunt of it."
He frowned slightly. "Perhaps its just simple brainwashing. You know... the father punished Yony when he was bad by cutting him, so Yony somehow feels that this is the appropriate punishment for himself, maybe for testifying against his father and sending him to prison? I'm not entirely sure, but either way, we need to figure it out, or this boy is going to wind up killing himself by bleeding out on the grounds," he stated, sighing and closing the file, setting it down onto the table. "We need to find someone who can reach him. Do you think Sama'el could get through to him? He's the other counselor for self-harm, isn't he?" He wasn't entirely sure why Yony insisted on hurting himself over and over again, but he didn't want to have to keep patching him up.
He leaned back on the couch slightly at this point, wrapping an arm gently around Alaric and tugging the other male down against him. "I just don't know, Ric. Some of these students are so troubled, sometimes, it seems like there's nothing I can do to help them, and I don't... I don't like feeling helpless," he confessed, looking down at the other male as he raised a hand gently to run his fingers through the other male's locks lovingly. He didn't like to be seen as out of control. Okay, so he was a control freak... at least he wasn't really obsessive about it. He could compromise, after all.

Personally, Ric thought it was a great thing. Though it did not really seem to fit what everyone thought Salizar to be, Alaric found it to be a neat little thing that made him seem not so... harsh. Ric liked the man for who he was, but fully believed that everyone needed something to make them let go of their serious sides every now and then. Sure, he was not often very serious, himself, but he did know when it was time to be an adult. "Maybe the three of us should have a Disney movie night sometime soon," Ric suggested with a slight nod and a smile. He liked the idea of being able to snuggle up with the both of them and enjoy some of the most classic movies ever. It would be a nice evening, at least, Ric thought it would be.
The counselor shook his head a little as Salizar asked him if he had seen the entirety of Katana's file. He had not. There was probably a reason for that, as well, but he had a feeling Zar was getting ready to share more information, anyway. Alaric listened to Salizar explain what was all known about Yony, and a part of Ric wished he had not known. Sure, it was good information to know, but that did not make it any less bothersome. It was really sad, and Ric just could not understand how anyone could treat their kids that way. Sure, he had not grown up in the best house, himself, and his parents had all but written him off for his mistakes, but at least they treated him like a human being until he no longer deserved it. What hurt with his parents was that they had not accepted him once he had gotten clean. However, Yony's dad seemed to have never cared about him, not really; and, that was just completely downing. Alaric always hated to hear about how bad some of the kids' home lives got. It was just... terrible. "We need to find someone who can reach him. Do you think Sama'el could get through to him? He's the other counselor for self-harm, isn't he?" Ric nodded a little, though it took him a moment to realize that Salizar was talking about Damon. He never really put the other counselor's first name to his face seeing as he never went by "Sama'el". Alaric was not sure if Damon would be able to get through to Yony. To be honest, Ric was not sure any of them could. Some of the kids were just... beyond their reach of help, and that was the part about his job that Ric hated. "I really don't know," he answered with a shake of his head, frowning slightly. Alaric let Salizar move him so they were a bit more comfortable on the couch and he rested his head on the other man's shoulder again. He smiled faintly at Zar's words, knowing the truth behind them as well as the sentiment. Zar liked being in control, but he also did want to help. It was very difficult to do either if the students really just did not want it. "Hardest part is getting them to realize that help can be a good thing. S'getting through initially that is the most difficult, and sometimes impossible. S'just... disheartening when you're met with those who just absolutely deny any and all help, thinking they don't need it." It was different when it was a student that actually did not have a problem, but those were few and far between. Alaric knew that had it not been for him losing a friend to scare him into getting clean, he himself would have graduated without sobering up, or he would have been dead. He had been insistent that he had no problems. Those "no problems" still haunted him, however. "Hopefully someone can actually help him, though." Ric hated nothing more than failing a student. It was something that he feared, if he was honest.

It certainly didn't fit his usual personality. He was the clean-cut, no-nonsense doctor who prided himself on being well-put together and passive. He was strong-willed and protective, and something about Disney movies seemed to equate, in Salizar's mind anyway, to something childish... from when he was younger. So watching Disney movies himself seemed like some sort of contradiction that not even he could make sense of. He gave the other a small smile as he heard Ric suggest that they all sit down and watch Disney movies all night. "Well, I suppose if you can't think of better things to do all night..." he stated teasingly with a smile before leaning in slightly to kiss the corner of the other's mouth. "That sounds wonderful, it's a date. Benton will be thrilled." And he would be. Benton was definitely a child-at-heart... much like Alaric.
The current dilema that they shared regarding a certain pale-haired student was eating at Salizar though. He knew that some students just could not be saved because they simply didn't want it. It didn't make him any more pleased about it though. He didn't have to like it that there were still some students who graduated only to go into jail directly after graduation. He sighed, gently running his fingers through Ric's hair as they sat back on the couch and he slowly looked around the house as the other only repeated what he himself had been thinking. "Katana is like that..." he said softly, staring at the television blankly, not even really seeing the movie much any more. He looked back down at the other as he stated that maybe someone could help him. "Perhaps. There's supposed to be a new counselor coming in that does suicidal counseling... maybe he can reach Katana."
he leaned back on the couch then, resteing his head down against Alaric's at this point. "So... Alaric, I have to admit... that wasn't the only reason that I came by. In fact, I suppose it was just an excuse." He looked around again at this point, fighting back the urge to cringe. "What... what would you say to maybe moving in with Ben and I. I mean... you can still keep your place if you want, and just bring some of your stuff over to our place but... I'd like... I'd like for us all to be together..." He had already spoken a little with Ben about it and they had agreed that it would be nice if Ric did move in with them. Of course, it probably wasn't going to help his insecurities at all, but at least then he'd be in the same building with them and know that they weren't deliberately excluding him on anything.
He looked down at his lover to gauge his reaction, wondering if perhaps Ric might think it to early in the relationship to be living with them, even if it was only part time. But he had to ask at least, and if he said that he was amendable to the idea, they'd get together with Ben and talk it over like responsible adults. "I think that it would be nice... you know... having dinners together at night and stuff... and I hate thinking of you all alone and cold in that bed of yours," he stated, giving a slight smirk, kissing the other's forehead.
