However, he occasionally likes to mix it up, and he has a definite appreciation for a nice suit or waistcoat, so can be persuaded to wear something fancier instead with very little effort. -Making friends
- Painting- It was suggested by his brother Lev as a possible outlet for his anger. It doesn't really help, as it doesn't get at the real heart of the issue the way he needs to do with therapy, but he loves it. And he gets completely covered in paint when he does so. It's really not all that rare to see Mikhail with paint in his hair.
-Making people blush- Mik isn't a flirt, not really, but he does think blushing is really cute. So, while he doesn't go around hitting on lots of people, when he is interested in someone, he delights in seeing if he can fluster them, mostly with compliments.
-Debate- Mikhail's anger doesn't spring from debate-style arguing, but that doesn't mean it can't calm him down anyway. A good debate leaves him more relaxed, and he's particularly interested in matters of politics.
-His brothers
-Affection- Don't let him convince you otherwise; Mik's very physically affectionate, and a bit of a cuddler, even with people he's not romantically involved with. It doesn't get to inappropriate levels of contact, but he'll hug, ruffle, nudge, or drape himself over friends if he feels the need.
-Healthy foods- Yes, a little weird for a teenage boy, but Mikhail really enjoys his fruits and vegetables, and takes a sort of pride in managing to eat food that tastes good and doesn't hurt his body.
-Cooking- His parents sometimes forgot that he needed to eat, so he learned to cook. It wasn't intentional. They were just sort of wrapped up.
-Music- He can't play anything, but he has an MP3 player and he loves to listen, particularly to classic rock. If you're friends with Mik, prepare to have one of his headphones stuck in your ear so you can hear too. He likes to share.

General Description: Mikhail is friendly, outgoing, and honest. He admits to faults easily, and does nothing halfway. He loves openly and completely, and is quite a bit of a hopeless romantic who tends to make big gestures to show his affection. However, Mikhail has a bit of a darker side beneath his grinning exterior. A passionate person that was perpetually stifled by his conservative parents, Mikhail had kept his hurt and anger inside for years before the problem started. The lack of expression in his household damaged him in a way that turned his anger unhealthy. When enraged, Mikhail sees red. It's like a mental blackout, and he has no control over himself, watching as if from outside his own body. He begins to lash out, and it's always toward someone he cares about desperately. However, Mik's truly a loving person, which means that every time he hurts someone he responds with intense and painful guilt. It's gotten to the point where he's consistently mindful and scared that he'll fly into a rage and hurt someone, but knowing that it happens isn't enough- he still can't control it. That's something else worth mentioning- due to his guilt over hurting people he cares about, Mik has a bit of a guilt complex. He tends to blame himself when anything goes wrong around him, even if he couldn't have done anything to stop it. He says things like "I should've been there more", "I should've known" and tends to not realize the fact that the reason he believes this is because he's so guilty over the things he actually has done.

Mik, when in his right mind, is artistic, creative, and generous. He really likes giving people things. Is that weird? Mik doesn't really care if it is. He's very confident in his own skin as long as he's not worrying about hurting someone. He also tends to be romantically jealous and possessive, another thing he'd like to work on.

Other: Lev's long-term, live-in boyfriend, who's also twenty-three. They've been together so long (friends for twelve years, romantically involved for nine) that he counts as family, even if Mrs. and Mr. Horne don't agree.
History: Mikhail was born to Cecelia and Pavel Horne, the youngest of four children. He idolized his three older brothers from a young age, and was particularly close to Lev and Jamie, as they were closer to his age. He's the youngest by five years while the others never had a gap that was more than three, and suspected to have been an accident. However, his brothers never made him feel unwanted, taking him under their collective wing and teaching him the things his parents would rather he not know.

Unfortunately, with his oldest sibling already being ten years old when he was born, Mik's siblings were out of the house far sooner than he could be, and there were less and less people that could protect him from his parent's disapproval and loveless parenting. His mother was frosty and affection-less, and expected the same of her children. Any emotional outburst was punished. His father worked hard and struck harder, and while the physical attacks never veered into brutal beating, the emotionless, sharp, efficient slaps that followed any step out of line were almost worse for Mikhail emotionally. His father didn't care enough to really hit him and his mother didn't care enough to look up from her tea. His brothers helped when they could, but they were busy at college, and could not help leaving the house once they turned eighteen. Lev, who was inclined to try and get Mikhail to live with him instead until Mik turned eighteen himself, was disowned and shunned from the house and company of his parents before he got the chance, because he had the nerve to fall in love with his best friend. Mikhail turned desperate, and he turned inward, blaming himself. He didn't have the bravery to rebel totally like Lev had, nor the patience to pretend, like Benjamin. He was adrift.

He found solace in his first love, a girl named Vera. He adored her completely, and it was here that his romantic nature was discovered. Unfortunately, she also became the basis for his possessiveness. You see, Vera was an actress, and Mik had played right into her manicured hands. She was cheating on him from shortly after the very beginning of their relationship, and this discovery hurt like hell. However, he could not express the pain at home, for fear of his father's wrath. He had no outlet whatsoever, and the betrayal of his trust has left scars in his self-esteem when it comes to romantic relationships that leads him to being jealous and possessive today.

It was then when the attacks started; little fits of complete, blinding rage that caused him to lash out. Mik had no control over these fits, and honestly felt like he was outside his own body, watching as he did these things. It started when he was alone, breaking things against the walls of his room, tearing his hands up by shattering glasses. This was usually accompanied by screaming, words of abuse, often hurled at himself rather than any outside force. He broke three mirrors. However, it soon progressed to the point where sweet, gentle Mik was liable to snap in public, and he was stronger than anyone had thought. He began hurting people, and it was never someone random that passed him on the street (not that he would have felt any better hurting a stranger). No, Mik seemed to only wind up injuring those he loved, and friends soon grew scared of him. They loved him still, and he explained the fits as well as he could, but the easy camaraderie they had shared before had been lost. Desperate, Mikhail appealed to his parents for help, and instead was treated to a vicious and unproductive assault at his father's hands that taught Mikhail just what it was like to be on the other end of one of his fits.

When he came out of a mindless, rage-filled blackout one day to see Lev's face bloodied and his eyes sad, Mikhail broke down crying.

With Lev's help, he found out about St. Helena's and procured a brochure. He convinced his parents to let him go by highlighting the name of the school; they thought that perhaps a school named after a Saint would put a little religion into the boy, and drive him away from the "devil's path" that Lev had taken. Pavel Horne never could understand that there were more sexualities than just gay and straight. They allowed him to go, though, eager to leave him somewhere where he'd be out of the way and he could "learn a little self-control and gratitude".

Mikhail is one of the few students that wants to be at St. Helena's. All he wants it to get better, and he'll do whatever it takes if it means he won't hurt anyone ever again.[/justify][/blockquote][/size]
