Elena's interests include books, music, singing, and psychology. Her favorite weather is rain, and she is immensely determined in whatever she does. She's also intelligent. She likes fire a little too much, and boredom a little too little.
And hell, this sounds like a dating ad.
Here's what you really need to know; Elena is a loyal, generous and loving friend for the most part, but has some difficulty in the initial phase of relationships due to a fear of getting too close to someone she may lose. You may need to initiate contact. She doesn't know how to make big, affectionate gestures, but she'll try. If she doesn't get too nervous about them, she'll go through with them, but they'll most likely be anonymous. Since she's deaf now and can no longer focus on the sensations she got from music and singing, she adores any other kind of sensation, particularly touch. She'll dance until she hurts and go running in the rain, if it means she'll feel on a heightened level. She also craves physical contact, though she doesn't like to initiate it in case it's unwelcome. She speaks mostly through sign language and written word, but she can speak out-loud if she wants to. Sometimes she gets into a depressive, listless state and becomes cruel. She must be shocked out of this. Kiss her, slap her, smash a pie in her face, whatever as long as she's not expecting it. Just remember to mix it up. If you get to know her, you'll realize she doesn't mean anything she says in that state, and you shouldn't take it to heart. She'll apologize profusely afterward.
Elena's a hard worker and a determined human being. She'll do almost anything for a friend. She's bisexual, so open to a relationship with either gender, and overall she doesn't really care about the gender of a potential partner.

Sophie would take one look at Elena and want her for a 'friend'. Sophie doesn't really trust anyone enough to really feel close to them, but she is great at acting the part. And, she loves surrounding herself with pretty people.
She'd be the one to walk up to Elena and say, "Wow, you're gorgeous, let's be friends. We're going shopping tonight. Meet me in the parking lot at 6:00 sharp. Don't be late."
She isn't afraid of people and she just generally assumes that people will listen to her if she is direct like that, since it has worked for her in the past. She's a queen bee type, so if Elena attempted to stray out of line, Sophie would find a way to stop it. There are advantages to being on her good side though--- free clothes, free exposure to the school Royalty, yeah... just a lot of freebies. And, all because she finds you pretty, and thinks you are worthy of her acquaintance. And, Elena is.
Also, they're both Juniors, so they'll probably see each other around.

Simon is in Elena's same year, pansexual, and also intelligent. He is also impulsive as heck when he's manic, so maybe they could be friends? He doesn't know sign language, but he can read pretty quickly and write quickly too, so communication wouldn't be a huge problem. He also enunciates pretty well, so if she is a lip-reader that might also work.

Elena & Sophie [/i] I think Elena would actually be comfortable with a sort of superficial friendship with Sophie. She's scared of getting too close to people in case she gets hurt, so I can see her going in with the mindset of "Okay, so this is safe", though I can't promise she won't wind up getting attached and actually caring about Sophie and her well-being. She attempts to not care for people in a way that she can't really back up with her actions. She is very hard to intimidate or control, but I can't really see her minding Sophie's bossy actions as long as they don't stray too far out of line, in which case she'd probably step up and say something. If they persist in that same vein of "Okay, now we're going to do this", she won't care much and will probably go along with it because there's nothing else she'd be doing anyway. She'll probably wind up seeing Sophie as a friend on a less superficial level with time.Elena & Simon[/i] Elena can indeed lip-read, and I would love for her and Simon to be friends. They have a lot of very similar interests, and he's someone who actually would understand her when she discussed books and the like, which a lot of her old friends couldn't do. Alrighty!  I could see Sophie easily making Elena her official BFF--- which would probably just mean she expects Elena to accompany her on shopping trips and whatnot. She'd also probably see about setting Elena up with whatever guy/gal she finds out Elena is into, since dating someone is definitely a plus for popularity. And, she'd go out of her way to make Elena popular. Now I've got "Popular" from Wicked stuck in my head. |

Yes, we do need a thread! This is gonna be awesome! I'm now picturing Sophie fluttering about trying to dress Elena up. She might even, with time, come to realize that she values Elena's companionship and find that she's made her first real friend! |

ELENA & JEREMYHeyy, they're in two classes together, and also the same cliques!! Jeremy is a super nice person, and as soon as he finds out that she talks through sign language, he will want to learn it and get a bunch of books from the library on it so they can communicate and he can make her feel welcome and stuff. <3
