General Description:
It’s no surprise to most people that Asher was once chosen to play the Beast in a high-school production of Beauty and the Beast, considering he’s got that “rough around the edges” look. At first glance, the man looks very intimidating. His domineering stature, buzzed head, and tattoo on the middle of his arm make for a very intimidating look. After spending many years with his aunt and uncle in California, he developed very tanned skin over most of his body. He also works out often and maintains a very muscular physique.[/blockquote]

His dog, his students, eating spaghetti with his shirt off, meatballs, Halloween, swear words, horror movies, the beach, swimming, palm trees, Hawaii, sunlight, therapy sessions with his students.Likes:
Dislikes: Being away from home, missing his family, alcohol, seafood, getting spaghetti sauce all over his clothes, wet and cold weather, that feeling of failure when you have to transfer a student to a mental hospital, cleaning up dog poo.
Strengths: Fast learner, very patient, great interpersonal skills, passionate about his job, highly educated/qualified.
Weaknesses: Puppies, has a bit of a potty mouth, sometimes too passionate about his job (he doesn’t have much of a personal life).
Fears: Cars (he walks everywhere and doesn’t have a valid driver’s license); alcohol in excess.
Disorders: He used to be mute and have depression, but extensive therapy helped alleviate those issues for him.
General Description:
The one thing that everybody knows about Mr. Wyndham is that he loves his job more than anything. He’s at school from 6am to 6pm almost every day, even Saturdays. He almost always has a clipboard or a file folder with him, reviewing notes or recordings from a therapy session, or grading essays. He takes great joy in being able to text a lot of his students and patients. Having been at St. Helena’s for six years already, Asher simply has educator blood. He would take a bullet for any student in the school.
In most situations, Asher is a man of few words. He has a dark past, but he also has a very positive attitude towards life. He might not always be able to look on the bright side, but he knows how to keep his head up. He has a tendency to rub people the wrong way because he might swear a little too much, but his heart is in the right place. You either like him or you hate him, and he won’t go out of his way to make you like him. If students follow the rules and show him respect, he can be like a best friend; otherwise, he could turn out to be your worst enemy. He doesn’t take crap from anybody – especially students.
Having lost both his parents and his siblings, Asher does tend to have his bad days, but he does well to hide his sadness. He mostly grieves in private and away from everyone else. But a hidden sensitive side allows him to connect with his students and patients very well. In fact, whenever he brings his puppy to school, people see a very different side to him, one that is surprisingly gentle. As it turns out, his puppy is a great tool to use to help open up the students in therapy sessions. Those who are okay with animals tend to become more relaxed with the puppy around, and thus open up more. So, although Asher loves to cuddle his puppy a lot, he is very open to letting other people hold her, and it often serves as a great way to start coversations with students and staff.[/blockquote]

Other: Mark Wyndham, 67, uncle, retired; Jennifer Wyndham, 64, aunt, retired.
History:
When Paul Wyndham took over his father’s insurance company in 1969, he had no idea that doing so would lead him to Anna Goldstein, three beautiful children, and a lifetime of happiness. Anna was just a young woman trying to get through college when a race riot broke out at her campus, causing one of her side mirrors to get broken off and her windshield busted. When she filed a claim with the Wyndham Insurance Group, she was lead to Paul Wyndham, who quickly funded her the money to fix her car and lent her his heart to fix her own. An early-childhood education major, Anna was an advocate for racial desegregation in the classroom, and she had no idea that her views could have provoked such violence.
When things finally began to settle down politically and socially, and the boys came home from Vietnam in the mid 1970s, Paul and Anna decided to marry. Their numerous attempts at having a child were often futile, and in 1982, a doctor told Anna that it was highly unlikely she would have children. Asher Jacoby came as a complete surprise to them six years later, and as they held their baby in their arms, Paul and Anna realized that no matter what anyone says, anything was possible, and they could still have the big family that they had dreamed of. Long after Asher was born, they kept trying and were lucky enough to have two more children. After her last child was born, Anna’s gynecologist revealed that the previous analysis of her childbearing abilities had been extensively fallacious and overlooked many other significant factors.
The year that Asher remembers best is the year he turned 17. He had a baby brother named Christian, who was 8, and the most adorable baby sister named Kaylee, who was 5. The family was as loving as they come. They ate dinner at the table every night, they went to church on Sundays, and they helped one another out. When his parents had to work, Asher was often the one changing diapers or putting his siblings to bed. On Thanksgiving that year, Asher teamed up against his siblings to pull apart the wishbone to see who would get their wish. Of course, they won. He never new what their wish was – “because it won’t come true if it gets told” – but everyone was excited to see Asher star in the school musical as the Beast in Beauty and the Beast. Asher has every inkling pointing towards the possibility that they must have wished for him to have a great performance. And he did. But they were not alive to see it.
Paul, Anna, and the younger siblings were driving to Asher’s school the night of the performance when they were hit by a drunk driver. In the harshness of the winter, they slid on black ice, and according to police who came to the scene, the car had rolled four times after being propelled off the road. Asher was not in the car at the time; he had stayed after school for a dress rehearsal. He didn’t hear of the accident until after the production was over.
The unsettling trauma of the news caused Asher extreme psychological damage. The state quickly moved him into the custody of his aunt and uncle, who lived by modest means in California. They used the money in Asher’s inheritance and Paul’s will to pay for Asher’s therapy. Struck so terribly by the trauma, he slipped into a deep depression and did not speak for almost two years. To add further insult to injury, Paul Wyndham’s will had dictated that Wyndham Insurance Group close its doors in the untimely event of his death. It only seemed completely logical to Asher that it was his fault that there were now so many people, so many insurance salesmen and saleswomen, who were out of work.
But Asher got better, and with several years of therapy and the unconditional love of his aunt and uncle, he came to realize that none of it was his fault at all. When he finally started talking again, he worked on getting his GED and was able to start college when he was twenty. He majored in psychology and education, and was able to earn a teaching certificate upon graduation. His graduation from college also marked the end of his therapy sessions, and he was finally able to live a normal life.
Wanting to help others like himself, Asher quickly enrolled in a Master’s program for family and adolescent therapy. Within a few months after finishing the program, he was able to find work at St. Helena’s Academy, where he is now starting his sixth year as a counselor and teacher.
