Mason works hard at what he does, but often doesn't get rewarded for his deeds. He got his doctorate degree in science, but began to teach as a steady job while he published his work, finding out quickly that he loved bringing knowledge to young minds. He met Melina on a trip to Spain, and took her to America to get married when she got pregnant with Victoria; and, well, let's say things didn't end very well. He was left broken up about the whole thing, but persisted his career while trying to provide the very best for his daughter. She has her own issues, though she isn't fully aware of them, but he tries to be the greatest dad he can all the same.
He has a long distance girlfriend, but the relationship isn't completely solidified. He's hardly in contact with his ex, only enough to know that she married someone else and has another daughter named Lillian, who Victoria hasn't met. He cares deeply about the people he comes in contact with, though that isn't always reciprocated. He is constantly told by his colleagues that he needs to keep his daughter on a tighter leash and out of other people's business, but it hasn't been easy while he maintains his research and work for both St. Helena's and the local university.
