General Description: Aside from being a bit tall, there is nothing out of the ordinary about Rich's appearance. He dresses conservatively, for the most part. More recently he has been experimenting with his style of dress. He bought a leather jacket to wear while he rode his new motorcycle, but felt silly in it. He will wear it on occasion when he is feeling daring. He likes to wear sunglasses and should probably consider wearing sun-block too. He takes some particular care to ensure that his hair looks nice every day, and that would probably be the focal point of his appearance. He is fit from frequenting the gym, but isn't too bulky.[/blockquote]

fallout , fallout , fallout, through the fallout. fallout, fallout, through the fallout. well now there's him,
Likes:
-Going to the gym to let off some steam.
-Having his entire week planned out, though this has become more of something he is used to and less of something he actually enjoys.
-Physical challenges like hiking and rock climbing.
-The unexpected. This is a new development. He's only recently begun to find that he gets a thrill when things don't go the way they were supposed to. His whole life has been so regimented and un-extraordinary that he has begun to crave conflict.
-Scars and tattoos. He doesn't have any himself... yet. But, he feels like people who are scarred and tattooed have lead interesting lives. He envies them and craves their presence, though as little as a decade ago they would have made him mildly uncomfortable.
-Motorcycles. In his little 'rebellion summer' he bought a motorcycle and learned to ride it. He actually wound up selling his car. This is his first step towards becoming a more interesting person, or at least that's what he hopes it is. Either that or he'll die in a motorcycle accident, and at least die in an interesting way. His parents are not impressed, and his sister actually asked if he was suicidal when she found out about it.
-Danger. This is very new. Up until his 'rebellion summer' he didn't care for danger at all. He drove a Prius, for heavens sake! Now he finds himself strangely drawn to dangerous situations. He's actually found himself beginning to take less and less safety equipment on his weekend jaunts to the mountains. He's been tempting fate, and feeling a million times more fulfilled because of it. Hopefully this doesn't turn into some kind of addiction.
Dislikes:
-He used to dislike it when unexpected circumstances force him to re-organize his entire schedule. It's sort of an irritating inconvenience now, but he seems to mind it less and less.
-When nothing unexpected happens and everything goes according to plan. This is a more recent development.
-When people are late for appointments... he just finds that rude.
-Not getting enough sleep. You wont like him when he's sleepy.
-Feeling like his whole life has been one big boring chain of non-events leading up to his dull demise.
-Feeling like he can't feel anything. One of the things that disturbed him the most about the spectacularly terrible end of his relationship was the fact that he couldn't seem to really suffer. Sure, he felt bad. He'd loved his fiancée, obviously, and it hurt to lose her, but it didn't hurt enough. At the end of the day he still felt like the same boring person. The breakup had been so messy that he should have been completely devastated, but it all seemed to be muted by his own natural calm. He felt like he should have been losing sleep over it, but all he felt was a tinge of sadness every time he felt the empty space in his bed. There were no tears, no days where he couldn't see through his black depression, no loss of appetite, he didn't feel suicidal for even a minute--- it was like she'd been in his life and then she was just gone. And, he couldn't blame her.
-Being so 'good'. He's always been a good son, a good brother, gotten good grades, dated good girls, and so on. He's never caused trouble, and he is pretty sure that if he died no one would remember him for anything.
Strengths:
-He's good at his job.
-Dependable.
-He has the capacity to be a very loving person, but his last relationship has left him a little more jaded where he used to be a romantic.
-Organized and efficient.
-Intelligent and educated.
-Athletic.
Weaknesses:
-Suppresses his own emotions, though his entire profession revolves around getting people to open up. (Could be considered hypocritical because of this.)
-Boring. There has been nothing in his life to distinguish him from anyone else. The only thing that sets him apart from other people is the lack of things that he has to set him apart from other people. He hates being an uninteresting person and is terribly bored with his life.
-Hypochondriac.
-Irritable when tired. When he is tired he can be a bit obsessive and anal about stupid things like having the windows closed when the climate control is on so that you're not heating/cooling the whole world.
-Argumentative, especially when tired and or hungry.
-Stubborn, especially when tired and or hungry.
Fears:
-Dying of acute boredom.
-Never feeling passionate about anything again.
-Being unable to fall in love and dying alone.
-Contracting some terrible disease and dying before he has done a single interesting thing.
General Description: He's a kind and reserved person. But, he's beginning to find that he is dissatisfied with his life. He feels like it has all been planned, though planning something he usually sees as a positive, it feels like there has been no adventure or weirdness or really anything interesting that has happened in his entire life. He feels like a boring person, and he hates it. His last relationship fell apart not just because of the arguments he had with his fiancée, but mostly because she became bored with the relationship. He knows that he is too stuck in his ways, and he does want change but isn't comfortable making changes. He doesn't even know if he is capable of being an interesting person. Part of the reason why he came out to St. Helena's is because it was so unlike him to just get up and leave. It shocked his family, and it felt good to do something unexpected. But, the excitement of that has worn off now and he sees himself falling into his old habits. He finds himself wishing that there was something tragic about his life, some obstacle to overcome, as stupid as that sounds. He just needs a little excitement in his life, someone or something to break him out of this straight and narrow path.[/blockquote]

Father: George Everett, 60, Veterinarian (Retired)
Older Brother: Jeffrey “Jeff” Everett, 34, Lawyer
Younger Sister: Stephanie “Steph” Everett, 28, Economist
Younger Brother: James “Jamie” Everett, 22, University Student and Vegan Living Enthusiast
Ex-Fiancée: Lana Adams, 30, Plastic Surgeon
History: Richard was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts to George and Rita Everett. He was the second of four children, and often felt that he was the one who got the least attention. He didn't mind being out of the spotlight, however. His older brother, Jeff, was where George and Rita invested all of their dreams, and was under constant pressure from them to succeed in everything. Rich was the much adored second child for the brief time before Steph was born, and then he was for the most part ignored. Rich was very close to Steph from the day she was born, and constantly showered her with brotherly affection. Whenever Steph was in her playpen, Rich would take all of his toys and pile them up around her so that she wouldn't be bored, much to his mother's amusement. Whenever he got his allowance, he'd immediately spend it all on something for little Stephie.
Jeff didn't have time for younger brothers and sisters, and though he was closer in age to Rich, he always seemed much further away than Steph did. Jeff was always cold and distant, and Rich found him intimidating.
George and Rita had all of their children sent to a private school and started their first three children in school early, though all the studies would later show that kids were better off if they started late. Fortunately, the Everett children did well in school, in spite of the irritation of always being the youngest in their classes.
Even after Rich started school, he always made time for his little sister, even though it didn't exactly make him popular with the other boys. He didn't let his peers take away the connection he had with Steph. When Rich was eight years old, his little brother Jamie was born. By that time he wasn't as interested in babies as he'd been before, but he still took an occasional interest in the youngest Everett boy. Steph was crazy about Jamie, and always wanted to dress him up and show him off to her friends.
Rich never drifted apart from Steph, though he did eventually begin hanging out with boys his own age. Whenever Steph wanted to join in their games, Rich insisted that she be allowed to play or he'd leave. Most of the other boys learned not to mind having Steph around, since she didn't cry much and didn't talk about gross girl stuff. When they got a little older, Rich's friends started coming over to the house to see Steph specifically, though Rich was too naive to know it at the time.
The only time Rich ever felt close to his older brother was one time when it looked like their parents were going to get a divorce, not long after Jamie was born. Jeff had told Rich what was happening, explained it all in detail--- what the fights meant, what divorce would mean--- and he'd told Rich to keep it from Steph because she was too young. It made Rich feel grown up to be confided in by his brother. Fortunately, the Everett parents did end up working things out, but the experience never left Rich completely.
Rich was not unpopular in high school, but wasn't popular either. High School really didn't leave much of an impression on him at all, and he graduated at sixteen. He just kind of felt like he slept through the whole thing, and then woke up in college where his life was starting again. Richard got his degree in Child and Adolescent Psychology from the University of California San Francisco School of Medicine after attending centuries of medical school to become a medical doctor. He hated medical school, but stuck it through because the end result seemed well worth the suffering.
During the next million years of residency, Rich went through a serious relationship that had been going on since his second year in medical school, which went down like the Hindenburg. After all of that, to get away from the city and bad memories of his failed relationship, he took the first job that was offered to him out of state, and that was the job at St. Helena's. The pay was not phenomenal, but the atmosphere looked just about right for him.
He'd come to realize over the course and the end of his relationship with Lana that he was a boring person, and that he couldn't honestly say that there was a single exciting day in his life. He became desperate to discover himself, to gain some personality, to gain some life experience. He found himself discussing work and news in every conversation, and it was as dull as could be. He felt the need to find something to be passionate about. He has come to St. Helena's hoping to find the unexpected and the strange. And so began his rebellion summer, when he ditched his fuel efficient car for a motorcycle, took up mountain climbing, and started going to bars. His family is worried because, for him, leaving his job in California to take another job qualified as 'erratic' behaviour, where in most people it wouldn't seem like a big deal at all.
Now he just hopes that he can find himself in the cooler air of Washington, though he has a terrible sneaking suspicion that there is nothing to find and that he is just a genuinely boring person. Maybe someone or something will show him what it means to be alive. He can only hope. [/blockquote]
