that one awkward moment{IAN}

Images of Scotland and the orphanage flickered through her head as her fragile blue eyes glazed over the glossy pages of a national geographic world book. Inside there had been images placed with pictures from all across the world, but she couldn't look any farther past the ones on Scotland. Part of her was glad that someone had come to her rescue to take her away from that horrible place. It wasn't the life for her, to be kept away from other children because she would wake them in the middle of the night with her screaming. It wasn't right for any child, to be neglected of love and compassion, of a real family. It was still a mystery as to why she wasn't like the other teenagers or what was ' normal' to society. Her adoptive mother had tried to explain to her, but the reality wasn't easy to handle. It just made August upset.. and the voices upset as well. Who needed to know what the difference between a reality and an altered reality where? One had said to her all the time, coaching her to the fact that she didn't need to know and her adoptive mothers opinion didn't matter.

Still, it was frustrating. She had finally been adopted and accepted into a life where she could be loved and be cared for.. but then they sent her away again and look at where she was now. On her own and in a school , that was in a completely new country, without a single soul she felt like she could trust. Her first few days had ended into a complete nervous melt down. All of the questions her counselor asked her, all of the eyes she felt like were on her now… it was too much to handle. Often she'd escape to her dorm and just cry, trying to block out the voices with her sobbing because the girl didn't know what to do. Luckily though, as september was rolling through… things were changing. She got used to her schedule and slightly enjoyed them too. It was easy when the only person she'd have to talk to was the teacher and then ignoring the student's who made her feel nervous.

For September, it was a pretty nice day.. but it was a bit chilly, so staying in doors was a must. Plus, being wrapped in a sweater and comfortable clothing, it was her and the books. While she needed a book for her english class, her eyes just couldn't pull away from the thick book of pictures. Seeing the rolling green hills of Scotland brought a sense of relaxation to her. Sighing, the girl ran her hand through her golden girls and closed her eyes for a moment. Why couldn't she go back.. with her real family. Maybe she wouldn't have ended up so screwed up if she grew up like a normal girl. A single tear rolled down her pale cheek, but she let it go unnoticed. Sniffing, she shook her head and put her hands in her lap, looking back down to the book before closing it heavily. With a huff, she stood and shoved her chair back from underneath her, not looking behind to see if anyone was there.

It didn't become apparent to her either, until the chair didn't move as far as she thought it would. Snapping her head around, she gulped. Her frustration in the moment led to her shoving the chair out from underneath her, but it had hit someone… suddenly nervous, she froze.. like a deer in head lights. It looked as if she was going to cry because if it, but she had been crying moments before so her eyes were still watered with tears. Gripping the book tightly in her hands, she looked at the figure… expecting to be yelled at. "Uh..." She mumbled, her voice shaking.
